Hashim Amla, the latest entry this IPL

IPL 2016 has arrived just the midway but unfortunately, many of the overseas stars had to return home due to injuries. The latest addition is KXIP's Mr.Dependable 'Shaun Marsh'.

Interestingly Shaun is replaced by Proteas' Mr.Dependable 'Hashim Amla'. But, is Amla a good T-20 batsman like he is in Tests and ODIs? Let us have a look at what requires to become a regular feature in a T-20 playing XI and can Amla be a regular name in the list. Since he's a batsman, discussing batting seems better. First of all, a top-order T-20 batsman should be attacking and consistent both. It's not possible for many and Amla is one of the few who are both attacking and consistent. In 37 T20I innings, he has scored 1008 runs at a good average of 31.5.

His strikes at 129.5 which is really good for an opener. To add on his highest score is 97*. The knock shows how dangerous he could be. He has a total of 5 half-centuries which is pretty good. Next, a batsman should keep calm in difficult times. One can't always smash the ball outside the park. He should respect good deliveries, take time and should believe in 1s and 2s. One gets enough opportunities to get six and fours if he stays on the crease, and Amla is probably one of the better ones in this business.

Now, to glue in the XI, one should be good at more than one task. Apart from being a great batsman, Amla is also a fine fielder. He has a great cricketing mind and can help Murali Vijay in captaincy. He handles pressure without taking pressure.

KXIP needs a player like him and hopes he joins soon. It would be his IPL debut and who knows he brings good fortune for the struggling Punjab team.
