My HP-15 notebook was finally dead after 4 years of nonstop usage and it was time to buy a new piece. I found this Acer Aspire 7, a mid-range laptop priced at ₹56,990 on Flipkart and Acer’s official site. I’ve used it for some time and now I can review it. Before starting, here’s an advice that avoid purchasing costly items using Flipkart as much as you can because of their poor customer support and logistics team (Ekart).
Now, back to the Laptop. It a 15.6-inch notebook with FHD IPS display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It features a 720p HD camera (which is not that HD in reality). The refresh rate is 60Hz. The laptop is powered by Intel i5 9th generation processor (relatively old still powerful enough). It has 8GB DDR4 RAM (expandable up to 32GB) and 512GB NVMe SSD. The integrated graphics card is the Intel UHD 630 while it has got a dedicated 4GB NVIDIA GTX 1650 GPU. Apart from that, it has narrow bezels with almost 81% screen ratio and a chicklet backlit keyboard which is well-spaced. The body is entirely made out of good quality plastic. There are 3 USB Ports (2 on the left and 1 on the right), a 3.5mm jack and the charging port on the right. On the left, there is an HDMI port, USB Type C port, and a LAN port. The laptop weighs around 2.2 KGs. The touchpad has a fingerprint sensor on the top left which is pretty responsive. The laptop screen goes to 180° which I liked. The hinges seem to be strong but experimenting is not recommended.
These were the major specifications of the laptop and now, I’ll provide my observations. Overall, till now my experience with the laptop has been really good because, in simple words, it is really fast, the laptop boots in 5-6 seconds. I used Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Coral Draw Suite, Android Studio and etc… and all of them ran smoothly. I observed that Photoshop got installed in less than 120 seconds. The amount of bloatware with the laptop is very less and can be dealt with very easily. It comes with Windows 10 Home Single Language (which needs to be updated after setting up to fix a few issues from Microsoft’s side). There’s a single month trial of Office 365 (which for me was useless). It also has a one-month trial of Norton Antivirus which worked well until I removed it (because again for me it was useless). I played some not so demanding games which ran very smooth but it seems that it will support a lot of high-end games with ease.
The display of the notebook was above average and acceptable for this price. The viewing angles were fine but it won’t work well under the sun. The top lid is not the strongest so applying unnecessary force should be avoided. The light in the keyboard was fine but not that impressive. The transfer speed using the ports was very good and so were the WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. There’s one issue that pours down some negativity is the speakers are not that loud (but I generally use earphones, so it wasn’t an issue for me). While using heavy software, the laptop does heat a bit but the performance remains up to the mark. The battery was really impressive, because for my normal internet browsing and other light work, it lasted about 8-9 hours, and while using heavy software, it worked 5-6 hours straight. I can’t comment on the battery while gaming because I haven’t used, tried a lot of gaming, but reviews are stating that it lasts 3 hours. Specification wise, it is a 3 cell Li-ion battery and charges using a 48 W AC Adaptor (which is really huge and heavy). Another thing that wasn’t impressive that we can’t add additional HHDs or SSDs and to increase space, the preinstalled SSD needs to be changed.
My final verdict is that the Laptop is really good considering the price (I got it for ₹51,000) and it is a perfect solution to switch between your Office work and Gaming hours but once again my only suggestion would be to avoid buying anything costly from Flipkart (an offline store or Acer’s official the website would be much better).

Actually, Flipkart is not that bad because Intel gave me a few freebies because of Flipkart. I got a few games for free about which I’ll write in another blog because I haven’t played any of them till now.
The bonus pack included:

While there are a few preinstalled card games on the laptop which don’t consume a lot of space.
